Invitation to participate - opportunity for sabbatical in the academic year 2024/2025

At the University of Primorska (hereinafter UP) we are aware of the importance of in-depth training in the field of research activities. Therefore, in accordance with Article 64 of the Act on Higher Education (Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia, No. 32/12 and amendments), and with the aims of strengthening the excellence of globally established research groups, support for promising, above-average researchers, and acceleration of international research integration to achieve top results, within the medium-term development strategy of UP 2021-2027, goal 1.4.1 “establishing the foundations for the implementation of the Sabbatical - preparation of legal bases and instructions for the implementation of the Sabbatical” and within the action plan of the Human Resources Strategy for researchers, activity 12 “Developing a policy on the Sabbatical”, researchers are invited to express their interest in the opportunity for a Sabbatical by applying to the present internal tender.

 Tender conditions

 To this tender we invite higher education teachers (D) or researchers/scientific workers (H) who can fullfill the following conditions for application:

has a valid habilitation title of a higher education teacher or scientific worker, that is classified as R2 (at least 3 years after the first election), R3 or R4 in the European framework of the four stages in the development of a researcher's career, has concluded a full-time/part-time employment contract for a fixed/indefinite time. Employment for only supplementary work is not eligible, has been employed at the University of Primorska continuously for the last 6 years (that is, from 1 January 2017), has fulfilled the conditions for head of a research programme, in accordance with Article 5 of the Rules of Stable Financing of Scientific Research Activity of UP.

 Application content

 The application should contain:

letter of motivation (with contact information and researcher's signature), the proposed semester for taking the Sabbatical (first / second semester of the academic year 2024/2025), opinion of the dean/director of the parent member (with the signature of the dean/director), Sabbatical programme, a written invitation from the host organization (with the signature of a competent person in the host organization), a letter of intent for incoming mobility of a researcher from one of the T4EU universities to UP (only if the programme envisages incoming mobility of a researcher from T4EU university who comes to the UP).

 The Sabbatical programme must:

describe the starting points and state the goals of the Sabbatical,  describe the content and course, including the time and place of carrying out the Sabbatical activities,  indicate the expected results, justify the contribution to the researcher's progress in the field of research, the pedagogical field and/or other fields of work, describe the benefits of the programme for colleagues, students, members and/or the university, especially how the researcher will transfer the acquired knowledge and experience after the end of the Sabbatical.

Researchers who meet the above-mentioned conditions express their interest by submitting an application in electronic form (with digital signatures or scanned manual signatures) to the email address:  with the subject line “Applicationfor Sabbatical”.
